It was a sunny Wednesday morning and the clouds were all gone, I turned around and looked at the cross country notice by my bed. Holy cow, it's the day of my cross country. I quickly got into my clothes and went to school. When I got to school every one was leaving to go to farndon park.
After we had walked there we all did our stretches and warmed up. Then it was time to race! As the 10 year old boys lined up you could hear the parents chanting our names. Ready, Set, Go and we were off. Harvey was in the lead for the first 200m. T-dub and I were close behind neck and neck.
When we got to the halfway point Harvey tripped up and smacked his head. I had to make a decision help Harvey and come 2nd or 3rd, let him go and race with T-dub, or trip up
T-dub and win. I decided to keep racing with T-dub.
T-dub and I were sprinting or hearts out. A few meters later I was about 3 meters in front of him. As we passed the 100m line both of our legs dropped and we fell over. Harvey had recovered from his injury and ran over top of me. He won!
I was exhausted but relief and pride soon took over. Although I did not win I am still proud of coming 2nd.
